Khalifa White, a recent finalist of Broadway.com's casting competition series The Search for Roxie, is headed to Broadway after all. While the standout performer didn't make the final cut to appear in Chicago, she has just been cast as a standby to the roles of Emmie, Radio 2 and Radio 3 in the upcoming main-stem revival of Caroline, or Change.
"I was doing callbacks for Caroline, or Change and The Search for Roxie at the same time and on the same days we filmed the series, so to know that this was how it would end makes me feel like it wasn't all for nothing. I really believe in timing," White told Broadway.com. "The emotion I'd say I feel the most right now, especially today, is joy. I'm extremely grateful."
White was among the fan-voted final three actresses up for the role of Roxie Hart in the Tony-winning Chicago revival (Emma Pittman was named triumphant). White's prior stage credits include the national tour of School of Rock and regional turns in Hairspray, Dreamgirls and The Bodyguard.
Caroline, or Change is scheduled to begin previews on March 13 and open on April 7 at Studio 54. See White in action as she auditioned for The Search for Roxie below.
